“Tune up” is an old term used when all cars had the same basic parts:
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires
- Distributor cap
- Distributor rotor
- Air filter
- Fuel filter
- PCV valve
These parts were designed to be replaced affordably and keep your car running smooth when replaced about every 30k miles.
Today’s vehicles are much different. Spark plugs are often designed to last for 90k miles and more, many of today’s vehicles don’t have wires, distributor caps or rotors. Fuel filters are often put in the fuel tank and designed to last the life of the vehicle. Today’s vehicles may require a few other parts added to the “tune-up” list, such as a cabin air filter.
All this to say, your standard “tune-up” may be a thing of the past, depending on the vehicle. Trust Harvey Road Auto to only do what your vehicle requires. We won’t sell you any extra expensive parts just because you come in and ask for a “tune-up”.
