I would not go to any other mechanic. It is a family owned business and has been in existance for a number of years. When we moved here in 2008 our son recommended them to us, as he had been a customer for years. It is a very honest company, and the owner will contact you prior to doing any work, with an explanation and estimate of cost. They are very professional, always available and will contact you if they are unable to follow through as discussed.
We have complete faith in the work they do, in the advice they give us and always feel as if they are looking out for us, their customer. Any time we have brought our cars for repair it has always gone well and we have never had anything near a negative or unpleasant experience with any of the staff. They are “good people”!
Harvey Road Automotive specializes in servicing Honda and Toyota vehicles. The have an outstanding group of mechanics who have been with the company for many years. Their work is outstanding. They never do unnecessary work. If you ask them to check something out and they don’t think it requires fixing/replacement then they will not do the work just to run up a bill. Their cost for services, in particular major ones, run about 25% less than the dealer.
I have different cars that I take to them. They also have done other stuff prior to the minor repair I had done. I have been using them since May of 2014. They are excellent. I heard about them before from people I work with when they were at another location. I was looking for a good mechanic to work on my daughter’s car at the time who was moving to Richmond, VA. She had an older car with 90,000 miles on it and she had to drive from Philadelphia to Richmond, VA so I really needed to find someone to inspect that car from head to tail. They did an excellent job. They are always good with their price. They are with everybody else. Their quality of work is excellent.
Joe Scanlan is fantastic. He does a great job of locating the problem and explaining it to someone who doesn’t know the first thing about a car’s “innards.” He was able to find a creative solution that got my air conditioning running well and saved me a lot of money. He is an excellent communicator and had the car ready when he said it would be.
Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend Harvey Road Automotive.
I have been a customer for over 25 years. They are now working on my fourth car. I like them because, unlike dealers and most other mechanics, they treat me with respect. They explain problems in appropriate clear wording and are patient until I understand enough to make the decision. They also offer that necessary service of looking over used cars before I buy them and make recommendations. I have sent many people to them, and they have had satisfaction.
I have been a customer of Harvey Road Auto for 7 years. In that time they have always been professional, courteous, and have done great work on my car. They specialize in Hondas and Toyotas but they have worked on my wife’s Ford Contour as well with equal success. On several occasions I have gone in and suggested that they look for a specific problem. On many of those occasions Joe (the owner) has requested to check something else first that if contributing would actually be cheaper to repair then what I thought the problem is. On many occasions he has been correct and I have paid less than I anticipated. Joe has also been very honest about whether our cars are still worth repairing. He told us that it was not worth it to fix an engine problem in the Contour and that it would last the 6 months we needed it too before we could trade it in. I plan to remain a customer of Harvey Road Auto as long as they are in business.

Joe is a no-nonsense guy who is straightforward when it comes to quotes and repairs. He gets the job done right the first time. I’ve never had a problem and if I did, I’m sure Joe and his team would fix it asap.
They have ample parking, early a.m. and evening drop off. Easy to get to from I-95 (they’re right by Kreston Liquors). The office even has its own dog – a beagle – who hangs around and greets customer. Good mom and pop auto repair at a reasonable price.
